How Fanademy's fantasy football waiver and FAAB assistant works
Who should I add from the fantasy football waiver wire?
Fanademy's waiver assistant compares each available player with the current worst legal starter at the same usable slot on your roster, then ranks the positive upgrades by rest-of-season value over replacement. The highest-scoring free agent is not automatically the best add when that position is already strong or easily replaced.
How the method works
Load the roster
Resolve the current players and legal lineup, including FLEX or SUPERFLEX eligibility.
Define availability
Evaluate only the players actually available in the league rather than a universal free-agent list.
Find the displaced player
For each candidate, identify the current worst legal starter or replacement at the slot that candidate could improve.
Rank the upgrades
Subtract the roster's current value from the candidate's rest-of-season value and order positive gains.
What it cannot tell you
- The recommendation is only as accurate as the available-player list and roster supplied from the league.
- FAAB is league-market behaviour as well as player value; the method identifies upgrade size, not a guaranteed winning bid.
- The rest-of-season publication does not know a manager's private risk preference, keeper cost or short-term desperation unless represented in the decision.
Common questions
Why is the highest-projected waiver player not always the best add?
- Because the add only helps by replacing someone you would otherwise start or roster. A quarterback can project for more raw points than every running back on waivers while adding almost nothing to a roster that already has a strong quarterback and needs running back depth.
Does the waiver assistant tell me exactly how much FAAB to bid?
- It measures the size of the roster upgrade, which is the defensible input to a bid. The exact winning price also depends on league behaviour, budgets and urgency, so the tool should not present a universal bid as certain to win.
