How Fanademy's fantasy football auction values work

What should I bid for a player in my fantasy football auction?

Fanademy's auction tool converts each available player's value over replacement into a share of the league's remaining spendable budget, while reserving enough money to fill every open roster spot. After each sale it reconciles the remaining dollars and recalculates inflation, so a bid is evaluated against the room that actually exists rather than a static preseason price list.

How the method works

  1. Define the auction

Set team count, per-team budget, legal roster and scoring rules.

  2. Price above replacement

Translate the available pool's value over replacement into the dollars that remain after minimum roster bids are reserved.

  3. Record each sale

Remove the purchased player, the winning bid and the filled roster slot from the room.

  4. Reconcile the room

Reallocate every remaining league dollar and report whether the latest price was above or below the updated market.

What it cannot tell you

  • A dollar value is specific to the entered budget, roster and scoring rules; it is not portable between leagues.
  • The tool measures projection value and room inflation, not a manager's willingness to pay or nominate strategically.
  • Late role and injury news can change the underlying weekly publication after an auction value was viewed.

Common questions

Why do fantasy auction values change during the draft?

Because every sale changes both the useful player pool and the money chasing it. If managers overspend early, the remaining pool has less budget available; if they underspend, the remaining desirable players become more expensive. Static dollar lists cannot reconcile that change.

Do the auction values add up to the league budget?

Yes. The method first reserves minimum bids for every open roster spot, then allocates the spendable remainder across positive value above replacement and reconciles the full remaining budget after every recorded sale.
