What is the difference between standard and PPR scoring?
PPR awards a point for every reception; standard awards none. That single rule lifts high-volume pass-catchers in PPR and keeps the focus on yardage and touchdowns in standard scoring.
Standard scoring (non-PPR)
Standard scoring, also called non-PPR, awards fantasy points for yardage and touchdowns but nothing for a reception. It is the original fantasy football format.
With no points for catches, standard scoring rewards players who gain yards and score touchdowns rather than those who simply see a lot of targets. Running backs who carry the ball and score near the goal line hold their value, while target-dependent receivers fall relative to where they rank in PPR.
Standard scoring changes draft strategy: pass-catching specialists who are startable in PPR can sit near replacement level here, so the running back position gets even more valuable early.
