A sleeper is a player being drafted later than his likely production warrants — an overlooked pick expected to outperform his average draft position.
Sleepers are where drafts are won late: a player whose role, situation, or opportunity points to more production than the crowd expects, available at a low cost because the consensus has not caught up.
The disciplined way to find one is to compare a player's average draft position with his value over replacement. A large gap in the player's favor is a sleeper; the label alone, without the underlying edge, is just a hunch.
